    Industry Moves: GOAT Hires Former Gilt Exec as First-Ever COO

    June 19, 2018: Sneaker marketplace GOAT has hired of Lizzie Francis as its first chief operating officer. She will report to CEO and co-founder, Eddy Lu. In this new role, Francis will oversee the global expansion and operation of both GOAT and Flight Club’s retail and online marketplaces. (Fight Club and GOAT merged in February.) She will also focus on improving the sneaker shopping experience for GOAT’s female user base. Francis currently serves as founder and partner at Brilliant Ventures. Previously, she was chief marketing officer of Gilt Groupe and was chief marketing officer and president of JustFab.com (now TechStyle Fashion Group).

    June 18, 2018:  After seven years with the brand, Charlotte Olympia president and CEO Bonnie Takhar has resigned from her post to explore new opportunities. Takhar plans to remain with the business over the next few months — suggesting she will see through the completion of the brand’s acquisition by Onward Luxury Group, which snapped up a majority stake in Charlotte Olympia last year.

    June 15, 2018: For the second timeIconix Brand Group‘s executive chairman, Peter Cuneo, will serve as interim CEO at the company, effective immediately. The firm’s president and CEO, John Haugh, resigned to pursue other opportunities, also effective immediately. In 2015, the then-embattled brand management firm tapped Cuneo to see it through a series of executive departures and an investigation by the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. He has a reputation for turning around distressed brands and is credited with helping to execute the revival of seven distressed businesses, including Marvel Entertainment Inc.

    June 15, 2018: Kering-owned Bottega Veneta has appointed Daniel Lee as its creative director, effective July 1. Lee was most recently director of ready-to-wear design at Céline. He will replace longtime Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier, whose departure was announced June 13.

    June 13, 2018: Macy’s Inc. has hired Naveen Krishna as its chief technology officer, effective June 16. Krishna will be responsible for the technology strategy and direction of the department store chain, including all store, e-commerce and internal-facing technologies. He will report to Hal Lawton, president of Macy’s. Prior to his new role, Krishna was VP of technology for The Home Depot.

    June 13, 2018: Kering-owned Bottega Veneta has announced the departure of creative director Tomas Maier, who joined the luxury Italian house in 2001. Kering chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault credited Maier with putting Bottega Veneta back on the luxury scene during his tenure and making it one of Kering’s most successful brands.

    June 13, 2018: Guess co-founder Paul Marciano has resigned from his role as executive chairman of the brand’s board, effective June 11. His resignation follows the conclusion of an investigation into allegations he engaged in sexual misconduct at work.

    June 11, 2018: Reebok has appointed Karen Reuther as global creative director. She was most recently creative director and brand psychologist at Cast Collective, a Boston-based collective of consultants working in the areas of design, innovation and technology. In addition to spending 12 years at Nike, Reuther worked with Puma, Vans, Timberland and TJX Corp. while at Cast.

    June 11, 2018:Sequential Brands Group Inc.announced today the appointment ofKaren Castellano as president of fashion, reporting directly to CEO Karen Murray. She will oversee the company’s fashion brands, including Jessica Simpson, Joe’s, William Rast and Ellen Tracy. Castellano joins Sequential from G-III Apparel Group, where she was president of Tommy Hilfiger’s women’s denim and sportswear division.

    June 8, 2018:Paul Andrewhas tapped Daria Fain as its global head of communications, effective immediately. She is responsible for developing the brand’s public relations, marketing and digital activities to aid in the company’s international growth. Fain previously worked at Jonathan Simkhai, where she served as the brand’s digital director, as well as the digital and editorial teams at Eugenia Kim and Ellemagazine.

    June 5, 2018: High-end direct-to-consumer shoe brand M.Gemi has hired Mirco Scoccia to serve in the newly created role of creative director of footwear. Scoccia joins the brand from Cole Haan, where he most recently served as senior design director of women’s shoes. Prior to Cole Hann, he worked with a number of luxury labels including Bottega Veneta, Belstaff, Tory Burch and Jill Stuart. Scoccia will be splitting time between M.Gemi’s New York and Florence offices, and working to further build out the design teams in both cities.

    June 4, 2018: Antoine Arnault, one of LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault’s five children, has been named head of communication and image for the luxury conglomerate, WWD reported. Antoine Arnault serves as CEO of luxury menswear brand Berluti and chairman of Italian luxury house Loro Piana — he will continue in these roles.
